Storyteller John Weaver - Legends & Laughter for All Ages

About John

Storyteller John Weaver lights up the imagination of adults & children alike, with performances that aim to educate, entertain, enrich & inspire. Goals--depending upon the audience--include: empowering listeners to find the storytellers within themselves; providing a positive, fun family experience; encouraging reading; sharing culture; boosting prediction skills; enhancing phonemic awareness; developing narrative skills; sharing world folklore; increasing vocabulary; enhancing listening skills; heightening creativity; and celebrating literacy for all ages!

John’s energetic, interactive, humor-filled performances aim to capture the attention & imagination of all ages, to educate, and to encourage children & families to continue the adventure at home by reading together.

Storyteller John Weaver is a parent, performer and Early Childhood Educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to ongoing story events and special programs for the Livermore and Menlo Park Libraries, and frequent appearances at Children's Fairyland in Oakland, John performs at schools, libraries, recreation centers, bookstores, assemblies, festivals, family attractions, conferences, museums, corporate events, parent education seminars, camp-outs, and “read-ins.”

John is a contributing author to the book, How to be a Storyteller: Essays and Advice on the Art of Storytelling.  John shares his perspectives on sharing the world of story with young audiences and their families in his essay, "How to be a Storyteller for Children."
